Your Love Story
…How did you meet?
We met with a swipe on Bumble! Loves young dream. It took us about a month to meet but was worth the wait!
The proposal
Expected or surprise!
We went away for the weekend to the Cotswolds and Harry surprised me with a treasure hunt. He said he was going to the toilet and left me in the bar and then a waiter came up to me with an envelope. I had to complete a crossword to get the next clue from reception and then a jigsaw to find out what room number he was in. And when I found him he had our song playing and was down on one knee. I then asked him if he was sure about 20 times before saying yes. It was perfect!
Choosing THE suits …
We went to Ellie Sanderson in Beaconsfield, looking for something classic and elegant and found loads! Would recommend.
What was your inspiration/theme for the big day?
We wanted neutral colours, lots of whites and foliage and then a slight hint of bronze/gold for another tone. The aim was to complement the rustic/elegant style of Dodford without taking away from it’s natural beauty.
Why did you choose Dodford Manor?
We got the feels as soon as we walked in! the ceremony room is so special and it felt like a grand place to get wed. We also loved how you’d keep exploring parts of dodford throughout the day, from the ceremony barn to the outside areas to the reception barn. You could never get bored there.
Tell us all the details!
We had all the family involved. Our niece as the flower girl, 3 of the nephews as page boys/ bubble boys, and our eldest nephew as the ring bearer. My 2 brothers were our witnesses and we even had our dog there on the day. He walked down the aisle in his matching suit! Our ceremony included readings from the Mother of the Groom and our 7 year old nephew. One of our favorite things from the wedding was live music. We hired Pianocole who played me down the aisle and all the pre-ceremony for our guests. She is incredible and would highly recommend.
What was on the menu?
The menu was inspired by Flat Iron, where we used to go on dates in the early years. It included a braised short rib, creamed spinach, fries and tenderstem broccoli. Dessert was a chocolate brownie pot with honeycomb as a nod to us meeting on Bumble.
First Dance Song?
Ben Platt – Ease my mind
Your favourite moment of the day?
I really enjoyed watching all our friends and family get seated in the ceremony room as I was hiding in the back room peaking through a small window. But I think the best moment was meeting Harry down the aisle.
A word of advice for future couples?
Enjoy the planning part. Don’t put too much pressure on the small details because you’ll burn out. Focus on the big picture and everything will fall into place! Oh and buy 2nd hand!
Can you sum up your day in just 3 words?
