The last couple of years has been strange for everyone, especially couples planning weddings. If you were lucky, you managed to have yours during the summer of 2021, but so many people have had to delay until 2022 at the soonest. Whether you’re in the same boat as these people, or you’ve always planned to get married in 2022, it’s nice to know what wedding trends to use at your wedding, keeping everything contemporary.
So, here’s our pick of the top trends that we think we’ll see a lot of in the coming twelve months:
Rented wedding outfits
While there’s definitely some sentimentality to owning your wedding dress and keeping it for years, many people are starting to realise that it doesn’t make a lot of sense. You’ll never wear it again and it’s unlikely to still be in fashion if you have any children that want to get married. Instead, the trend is all about renting designer wedding dresses for a fraction of the price. More and more brides are choosing to do this, saving money on wedding outfits that can be put towards other elements of the wedding or honeymoon. Plus, renting lets you pick out a handful of different outfits to wear on the day, meaning you look and feel like a superstar.
Garden weddings
The pandemic has changed a lot about our way of life, and it’s also seen a dramatic rise in outdoor weddings. These days, loads of couples are opting for little garden wedding ceremonies, rather than having them inside a traditional church. Whether this is your own back garden or a little garden space you can rent for weddings, it creates a lovely romantic setting that’s perfect in the summer sun. Using the foliage around you for decoration adds a beautiful touch and we’re confident this trend will continue long into 2022 and beyond.
Sustainable weddings
Naturally, the world has really started making an effort to be more sustainable over the last couple of years. This is reflected in the sustainable wedding trend that sees couples opting for recycled materials and eco-friendly decorations throughout the reception. Creating a wedding with the smallest carbon footprint possible seems to be a popular trend that keeps on growing.
Regency-era wedding themes
Now and then it feels like there’s a film or series that inspires weddings for many years. In 2022, we’re still going to see an uptrend of Regency-era wedding themes, which are all inspired by the hit Netflix show Bridgerton. Everyone went crazy for this show when it was released in 2020, but it’s still inspiring many wedding settings to this day. People love the Regency Blue colour scheme, and the general layout of weddings from this era are super popular. If you’re looking to put on a themed wedding in the next twelve months, this is certainly one to keep an eye on.
If you want, you can combine all of these trends together at your wedding next year! Or, pick out whichever ones you like the most and add them to your wedding planner. Either way, you’re sure to have a perfect day when it’s finally time to tie the knot.
