Mortain Barn for Weddings
Mortain Barn, Dodford Manor’s civil ceremony barn for weddings, is our most historic building. Constructed in the 1680’s as a large threshing barn, Mortain Barn’s magnificent 325 year old thick stone walls, striking oak beams and its impressive glazed outlook to stunning rolling countryside, makes for an understated yet impressive space and a very special barn for weddings. On arrival and entering the lavender lined outer courtyard, the handsome stands to meet you and provides a timeless rustic yet romantic backdrop for your wedding day and the making of your very own history!
Traditional and simple in layout, allowing the bride her graceful sway down the beautiful long aisle, the wedding barn is packed with unique features including ‘arrow slit’ windows, flag stoned floors and a gallery. The Gallery is an ideal place for musicians to play from, during your ceremony and can be a great vantage point your photographer to capture the perfect moments.
Licenced for both civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, the wedding barn creates an atmospheric setting, whether for an intimate wedding of 30-40 family and close friends or large gatherings of up to 170 guests! In inclement or cold weather Mortain Barn also comes into its own as a warm atmospheric wedding drinks reception barn and there have been some fabulous wedding reception group photographs taken from the gallery!
